My Reflection
At the start of the unit I was concerned about what we would be covering throughout the topic but as I got into the unit I was understanding more about what the subject would be like, what we would be covering and what would be expected of me. As i was going through the tasks I found them more and more enjoyable and interesting especially the TV drama task. I have lean't how to create, change my blog and the key features of my blog i.e. links and including pictures. I look forward to learning more about Media Studies and in the foreseeable future I see myself enjoying the subject as a whole.
Media Guardian
While reading the media guardian I found an article on the Paralympic Games and found it interesting, as it was explaining the issues that the media had posted a picture of another paralymic competitor, instead on the actual winner of that game (Lee Pearson, Team GB). It included views of different people and why they did not agree with the picture on the front of the House and Hound magazine.
One of the people to comment on this was a current paralymian;
'Natasha Baker, the 22-year-old who won two golds and set a new Paralympic record in her grade II class, added her voice to the disapproval, writing on Twitter: "Think its a real shame that us #Paralympic riders will not be on the front cover of @horseandhound yet Burghley have had 2 covers!!!!" '
But Horse and Hound – arguably trying to close the stable door after the horse has bolted – said the choice had been made as a response to reader preferences.

About Revenge-
Revenge is a TV drama that is new to E4. It is a story based on betrayal and conspiracy which is set in Hamptons, Manhattan. The newest arrival to the Hamptons, Emily Thorne (the main character) is not who she claims to be. Formally known as Amanda Clark, she used to live in Hampton during her childhood until her father was framed by his co-workers (billionaires known as the Graysons) for a crime he did not commit, and was sentenced to life in prison. This was when the family disappeared off the screen.
Emily never got the chance to see her father again. However, before he died, he trusted a man named Nolan Ross, his only true friend, tech genius (also known as one of the wealthiest characters) with a box full of secrets that was to be given to Emily once she was released from a juvenile detention centre, making him the only person in the show that knows Emily’s true identity and what she has returned for. Inside, the box contained information that explained to Emily what had really happened and how she would get her revenge on the people that ruined their lives. As the series moves on, new characters are introduced; some are from Emily’s past, when she was Amanda Clarke and some are also involved in her future. The powerful queen bee of the Hamptons, Victoria Grayson, soon has doubts about Emily and suspicions soon arise as Victoria is determined to find out what Emily’s real intentions are.
My Response -
Episode 1 - After watching the first episode I was gripped by this story line and left suspended wondering about the next chapter of the story. In the first episode we are placed at the middle of Emily Thorne and Daniel Graysons engagement party when we are left wondering if Daniel Grayson has been shot on the beach during a firework display. The episode then then goes back five months before the attack and introducing the rest of the characters while showing flashbacks of Emily's past when she was Amanda Clark.
Characters -
Emily Thorne is the newest arrival in the Hamptons this summer. By appearances, she is a friendly and sophisticated "girl next door," whose charm and generosity allows access the restricted circles of Hamptons high society. But the wealthy world she's placed herself in is tied to a dark family history and Emily Thorne is anything but what she seems. Emily returns under an assumed identity with one goal in mind, revenge. After she spends her childhood consumed in loss and betrayal now Emily plans to chip at the foundation of her sworn enemies, until their lives come crashing down around them. Emily is sharp minded and always five steps ahead of her enemies, but when her past begins to catch up, her true heart may get caught in the crossfire.

Representation
Definition -
By definition, all media texts are re-presentations of reality. This means that they are intentionally composed, lit, written, framed, cropped, captioned, branded, targeted and censored by their producers, and that they are entirely artificial versions of the reality we perceive around us.

My Definition -
Media Representation is the way groups are portrayed in the media, often through stereotypical images that affect the views of gender, race, class and age throughout the audience. Which may lead to false reality to pin point different aspects of the media.

Three Resources I Found Most Interesting/Helpful And Why
These are the three most interesting and helpful resources I found while I was creating my blog for my media bridging unit;
1. The first resource I found was most helpful was 'AS Media Bridging Unit' as it gave me all the information and links I needed to to complete my bridging unit, it also gave me a step by step guide of what media will include and how this project will be marked.
2. The second resource I found most interesting was 'Brief Introduction To TV Drama' as it has definitions and key information that I will require to complete one of my bridging tasks.
3. The final resource was 'Research Into The Term Representation' as it gave me an example of what is expected of me for later posts, and will give me a guideline of how and what to write.
